It’s really started to dawn on me that Web 2.0 isn’t as much a bubble as it is an echo chamber. Take a look at Tag Tuesday for example. Same old crowd. I see these guys at every San Francisco Bay Area event.

Nice guys and all but how about a little diversity.

Tim Bonnemann is trying to throw a Web Monday event in Germany which hopefully will bring a different crowd.

The key question is how do we bring a new crowd into the alpha geek community? Maybe that’s the problem. Maybe we’re so far out there that we’re hard to follow. Maybe we should make an effort to take our Web 2.0 pontification to the masses.

New conference idea… Pontificon!

I think Tag Tuesday brings a new crowd to each event. I have not talked to many researchers from HP and I also met a social networking researcher from Ireland at an event. I always try to meet new people at each event I attend.

I think you will see a lot of the same faces at any tech event in the Bay Area but new faces will come into the mix depending on the topic area and location.

Future Salon is a good example of a separate crowd for some of the same topics.

Maybe we should hold a rock concert…We could call it Webstock!

I think everyone has Flickritus. I live in LA and check out what’s going on via wikis and flickr. I totaly agree with your observation, but how can you fix it?
