I’m flying back to San Francisco from Bangkok by way of Taipei right now and I’m using Connexion to jump on the net for an hour or so. Great service and certainly worth the $9.95 (especially since I didn’t have time to use the network during my layover).

I decide to IM Adam and the first thing he want to do is try Skype.

The connection was pretty good. The biggest problem was the hum due to cabin noise but other than that the latency was pretty low and the call quality was decent.

Of course it won’t scale because the link is only about 256k which means that at best one person could make a call at any given time.

I’m not the first to play with this though. A skype user on their forums notes that he does this all the time and Joi did a podcast all the way back in 2005.

Update:

Adam tells his side of the story.
